I grew up in Kyiv, Ukraine as a happy child. I have
always been an exemplary student. I have graduated with the Applied
Mathematics degree from the
Faculty of
Cybernetics in the National
Taras Shevchenko University of Kyiv. I continued my graduate studies in
Drexel University, Philadelphia,
U.S., College of Information
Science and Technology (iSchool at Drexel). I completed M.S. and Ph.D.
degrees in Information Systems. During my studies I worked in the Wharton
School of the University of Pennsylvania as a programmer and IT
consultant. After living in Philadelphia for 15 years we with my husband,
Thomas Haigh, moved to
Waterville, Maine, home of Colby College.
I taught Database Design in Colby College Computer Science Department. We
took some pictures showing interesting aspects of
Colby student life.
In January 2004 we moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Both of us got
tenure-track jobs in the UWM
School of Information
Studies. I teach undergraduate and graduate courses on Information
Retrieval, Database Design, Research Methods, and Knowledge Management.
In 2007 I have received Fulbright Scholar award to go to Kyiv, Ukraine
for 6 months. From January through July 2007 I lectured and conducted
research at the "National University of
Kyiv-Mohyla Academy". My blog documenting Fulbright experience in
Kyiv is here
On December 26, 2007, our son, Petrus (Peter Thomas) Haigh was born. Video
